WORKING
WITH LAYERS
When
you are working on an open file, you will notice the "Layers" tab is
open which shows you all the different layers for a particular file. In our
templates you will see layers with names like "background",
"text", "photo border," etc. If you click on a particular
layer you make it active for changes.
RENAMING
LAYERS
In
your layers tab, click on the layer that you want to change the name of which
should highlight that particular layer in the tab. Then click on the actual
name of the layer and you will see the text is highlighted. you can just
override whatever we have named the layer with what you would like to call it.
TO
MOVE LAYERS AROUND
If
you want to move shapes and photo borders around, simply click on the
appropriate layer then go to your tool options and choose the tool with the
arrow head that points upwards and has the directional arrows to the right of
it (for us this is the top right option). Then go to whatever layer you are
moving, click on it, and then drag it to its new location.
The
only layers you can't move around are the ones that make up the background
pattern. You can, however, still change the colors in the background layers,
even in the ones that have all the circles, etc. You would just need to use
your paint bucket on each shape you want to change.
TO
ADD PHOTOS TO YOUR TEMPLATES
To
add a photo, go to file, place, and then choose your image from the location it
is saved in. Depending on the type of template you are using and the size of
the photo, you may opt to crop it, minimize it, or maximize it before double
clicking on the picture and turning it into a layer.
Once
you have clicked on the photo and have it the size you would like, you will see
that it has become a new layer. In your layers tab you can highlight your photo
layer and drag it up and down the layer tab until you have it in the location
you would like. If you are using a photo border, you will want to drag your
image underneath the photo border layer. Some photos will need to be dragged
underneath the background pattern layer and others can be placed on top of
photo borders that do not have the middle cut out of them for the image to go
underneath.
USING/CHANGING
FONTS
You
may notice that when you open a file you first get a message saying that the
text file needs to be updated. This means that the font we have used on a
particular design is not a font you currently have installed on your computer.
Fonts are not included with the photoshop template packages, but the text we
saved on the designs is there as a guide for you to follow. If we have used a
font that you really like, please email us with the name of the file and we will
let you know the name of the font and where you can find it.
If
you would like to change the font, just click on the appropriate text layer,
highlight the text, and use your drop down text bar to choose a different font.
TO
CHANGE WORDING & TEXT
To
change the text from ours to yours, click on the appropriate text layer,
highlight the text, and then type your own text on top of ours. If you want to
change the location of the text, simply click on the selection tool (the one
with the arrows) and then click and drag your text layer to its new
location.
